1890’s Scientist
One of the most important discoveries was during the 1890’s. A man known for a very interesting discovery was admired. Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was born March 27, 1845 in Lennep, Prussia as an only child. As a student in 1863 he was attending Utrecht Technical School when he got expelled. Not only was he expelled but was not able to join any other Dutch or German gymnasium. Later he entered the Federal Polytechnic Institute in Zurich where he began studies in mechanical engineering. He graduated with a Ph. D. from the University of Zurich. Rontgen was offered by special request of the Bavarian government to obtain the physics chair at the University of Munich in 1900.
After going to many Institutions of about six he became successful. As a child it is when he knew he wanted to be a scientist. As he grew and got his education at many great Universities at that time he was becoming famous and recognized. He was in the physics field. He was intelligent and enjoyed physics. He accepted many appointments in many universities. It is along his career when he made one of the most important discoveries.
During the 1890’s, specific 1895, he discovered a new kind of ray. He was in a lab and he covered the Hitterf-Crookes tube with the black cardboard he constructed as his first step. He then added electrodes to a Ruhmkorff coil to make an electrostatic charge. He darkened the room and began his experiment. He then found this new kind of ray and called it “x-ray”. He made his first photographs oh his wife’s hand. This was a successful discovery at that time and modern life, now.
The discovery of the “x-ray” was so important that it is still used today. It is used to make scans of bone structure along with other uses. It is used in hospitals in present life with just more technology but the same fundamental use. It was an important discovery, which is why we are glad for his discovery of the “x-ray”. It is used worldwide and is an important aspect to any hospital to see within the skin.
In conclusion to the discovery of Rontgen is very much appreciated by x-ray technicians. It is used for many medical uses and is read by radiologists. Rontgen received the first Nobel Prize in Physics. After his discovery he published several papers on x-rays. Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was very effective during the 1890’s for this specific discovery. |
