The 1940s era went through a lot of history it changed people cities and our communities. One of the attacks that changed history was the attack on Pearl Harbor when Japan bombed us. Another moment that changed history was the Manhattan project the bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In addition an important man of the 1940s was president Roosevelt. The attack on Pearl Harbor changed the way the United States felt about Japan. It all happened on an early Sunday morning in December 7,1941 Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor was one of the great defining moments in history. The Japanese sank 19 of our ships and our naval base was very close to being destroyed. The United States sank and damaged 4 of our battleships; 3 cruisers, 3 destroyers, sank 1 of our mane layers and destroyed 292 of our U.S aircrafts. The attack on Pearl Harbor left many of our people injured and dead; behind them they left chaos, 2,403 dead, 188 destroyed planes and a crippled Pacific Fleet that included 8 damaged or destroyed battleships. In conclusion civilians and sailors as well as the United States community was affected and that’s why they took rage on working on the Manhattan project which was a plan to drop a bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Manhattan Project of the 1940s was a big part of history. The Manhattan Project was the code name for the development of the first atomic bomb. In addition the United States used this nuclear attack to show the Japanese their true power they were planning to drop an atomic bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In other words the reason they also drop the Hiroshima was to shorten the war by six-months, and save many innocent American lives and also to prove the United States superiority and power. The goal of the Manhattan Project was to keep the entire atomic bomb program secret from Germany and Japan. In conclusion our president at the time was president Roosevelt. An important figure of the 1940s was president Roosevelt. He was born in January 30,1882 in Hyde Park, New York. His birth name was Franklin Delano Roosevelt he was a democratic. He attended Harvard University and Columbia law school; he became a corporate lawyer that was one of his jobs that he obtained. In 1905 on St. Patricks Day he married Eleanor Roosevelt They had five children: Anna Eleanor, James, Elliott, Franklin D., Jr., and John A. Both Franklin D., Jr., and James served terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. In addition he was the 44th governor of New York from Jan. 1,1911 to march 17,1913. In conclusion he died on in April 12 1945 he was 63 years old I warm springs, Georgia. In conclusion the 1940s era brought tragedies and memories to us. It left us with bloody wars and great presidents. The Pearl Harbor attack changed everything and the way things were. The Manhattan Project was the response for the attack on Pearl Harbor. President Roosevelt contributed well to the 1940s he is remembered for the things he did. Finally the 1940s era left us with great history that we still talk about today.
