1880's ART During the 1800’s art was called Art Nouveau. It was a decorative movement that was centerd in Europe. But, most people called Art Nouveau Judendstill. They used art nouveau in furniture, jewellery, and in books. It makes them look very fancy. In a way, you could say it was exotic because the designs were more dreamlike, ornamental, and asymmetrical. The artistic style that the 1880’s had was Art Nouveau, post Impressionism which was a style that was quite independent on it’s own. Famous artist that were known for post Impressionism were Pierre Bonnard, Claude Monet, Eduard Vullard, Judy Jones, Paul Cezanne, and many more. The famous artist that did Art Nouveau were Alphonse Mucha, Peter Beherns, Otto Eckmann, Victor Horta, Rene Lalique. and Egon Schiele. In the 1880’s Mucha’s art was fascinating. His paintings were magnificent. They called him Master of Årt Nouveau. Alphons Maria Mucha was born July 24,1860 in Southern Moravia, and died July 14, 1939 in Prague. He did posters, advertisements, jewellery, carpets, wallpapers, and theatre sets. He wanted his art to “communicate a spiritual message.” He died because he had lung infection. Later In life, his legacy still goeson in Psychedlic posters. Rene Jules Lalique was born in France April 6,1860 and diedMay 5, 1945. His art is very unique. He did glass designs, perfume bottles,vases, jewellery, chandliers, clocks, automobile hood ornaments. He was recognized in France for his art nouveau jewellery. Now a days, the artist from back then are inspiration for the next coming generations. They have done magnificent art pieces, and showed us the way. In this generation, you see different types of art. You could still see art nouveau, but people try to twist it, and make it a bit more of their style. In our generation, art is different from every one else. Art isn’t the same anymore.
